Date changed for next CoTrails General Meeting

Dear CoTrails Volunteers,

We have had to change the date of the next CoTrails General Meeting to Tuesday, October 9, 6:00-8:00 PM.  The meeting was originally scheduled for next Tuesday, September 25.  As usual, we will meet on Oct 9 at the CONF Supervisor’s Office, 1755 Cleveland Hwy, Gainesville, GA 30501.

This will be George Bain’s, our Forest Supervisor, last CoTrails meeting before his departure for a new job in Montana in early November.  We expect he may also participate in the next CoTrails workday on the Bartram Trail on Saturday, September 29 in celebration of Public Lands Day.

Please make sure you have these two dates on your calendars.  We look forward to a strong presence of CoTrails volunteers at these events so we can show George our appreciation for his vision and leadership in launching CoTrails, the first initiative of its kind in the US Forest Service system.

George and the Region 8 Regional Forester, Liz Agpaoa, will also attend the CoTrails Volunteer Appreciation Picnic scheduled for October 27.  Invitations to the picnic will be issued only to CoTrails volunteers who have recorded at least 20 hours of trail maintenance, training or administrative time in the past year, prior to September 30, 2012.  If you have not reached this threshold, the Public Lands Day on September 29 will be a great opportunity to increase your volunteer hours for FY 2012!

Attached for your reference is a flyer about the September 29 Public Lands Day workday and a calendar of recent and upcoming CoTrails events.

We will miss George’s leadership on the CONF and his partnership and friendship as we have worked together on the CoTrails initiative over the past many months.

We look forward to seeing you at these upcoming CoTrails events to wish George a fond farewell and the very best in his new assignment.

Sincerely,

CoTrails Working Group
