A Call to Arms! – or maybe chainsaws, posthole diggers, pulaskis and McClouds.  In this case just posthole diggers. We are going to be installing all new signage for the Aska Trail System, a total of about 13 signs.  So bring posthole diggers if you can.

National Trails Day Needs You!  Workday planned for Lower Green Mountain Trail, Aska Trail System on Saturday, June 2, 2012.  Meeting at Deep Gap Parking Lot at 9:30a.  We will install signage.  We can also check out the redesign of the trail at the beginning of Lower Green Mountain.  Woody Keene of Trail Dynamics did a trail on a roadbed conversion and I hear it is awesome.  After work we will grill-out, eat some great food and then it’s time to ride or hike!  Possible route to ride  – Lower Green Mountain to the Long Branch Connector onto Long Branch (clockwise) ride a full loop on Long Branch out the parking lot on Shady Falls Rd, right on Aska Rd, back to Deep Gap Parking Lot.  About 5 – 6 miles, beginner.
RSVPterry@cartecaybikes.com EMBA will provide the main course and drinks if you all could bring sides and dessert.  Let me know if you can make it! And what you plan to bring.
We are under the auspices of Forest Service and they require wearing helmets while performing trail work.  A bike helmet is sufficient (we do have extra helmets).  Also bring gloves, adequate shoes, bug spray, sunblock, snacks, water and medication for insect bites if you are allergic.  Sawyers – bring required PPE.

Location: Deep Gap Parking Lot (Aska Trail System) – On the right, approximately 4.4 miles East of Blue Ridge on Aska Rd. From the South of Blue Ridge, take Hwy 515 North, right at light Old Hwy 76, right at Industrial Blvd, stay straight (Industrial Blvd turns into Mineral Springs Rd), Industrial Blvd/Mineral Springs Rd deadends on Aska Rd, turn right and go about 4.4 miles, look for Aska Trails Parking lot on right. From the North of Blue Ridge, take Hwy 515 South, turn left at Windy Ridge Circle, turn left at Old Hwy 76, turn right onto Aska Rd and go about 4.4 miles, look for Aska Trails Parking lot on right.
